Our Role in the Surgical Process

While we don’t perform your surgery, we’re with you throughout the surgical process. We offer pre- and post-operative care, providing surgical consultations and support after your procedure finishes.

We conduct a comprehensive eye exam during your consultation to see if you’re eligible for laser eye surgery. Additionally, we’ll review which surgery option best meets your needs. We’ll refer you to a trusted surgeon, like NVISION Eye Center, to complete your operation.

Our support continues after your procedure. We’ll schedule follow-up appointments to assess how your eyes are healing and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Types of Laser Eye Surgery We Manage

Many surgical options exist to help improve your vision, whether with lasers or artificial lenses. We focus on laser eye surgery at our practice, helping you see better with the help and guidance of a trusted surgeon.

We can review your eligibility and explain the details of Wavefront and Femto LASIK. These surgeries involve using a specialized laser to remove precise amounts of corneal tissue.

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a common laser eye surgery used to correct refractive errors. While standard LASIK can be effective, there is still the chance for visual issues from higher-order aberrations (HOAs). HOAs are unique problems in the cornea, causing halos, glare, and decreased contrast.

Wavefront LASIK helps your surgeon address HOAs by creating a 3D corneal map before surgery. This mapping of the eye helps identify its unique features. During surgery, your doctor can use this map to help provide optimal vision.

Femto LASIK is similar to traditional LASIK, except your eye heals quicker after surgery. Traditional LASIK treatment involves using a small blade to cut a flap into the cornea, letting your surgeon reshape the cornea. In Femto LASIK, your doctor uses a laser instead of a mechanical tool, helping the eye heal faster after the procedure is complete.

In Femto LASIK, your doctor cuts a small flap into the cornea to access its inner layers. They remove precise amounts of corneal tissue with a specialized laser to correct your refractive error. After completing the surgery, they lay the flap back in its original position.

Contoura LASIK is a newer, more advanced form of laser eye surgery designed to correct refractive errors with greater precision. While traditional LASIK treats general vision problems, Contoura addresses higher-order aberrations (HOAs), which are subtle irregularities in the cornea that can cause halos, glare, or reduced contrast.

Before surgery, a detailed corneal topography map is created, capturing the unique contours of your eyes. This map guides your surgeon during the procedure to help optimize vision and enhance visual quality beyond standard LASIK.

Cataract surgery involves carefully removing the eye’s natural lens when it has become cloudy because of a cataract. The process begins with local anesthesia to numb the eye. Then, a blade or laser is used to make a small incision on the eye’s surface. Using a high-frequency ultrasound device, your surgeon breaks up the cloudy lens into small pieces and gently removes them. This is known as phacoemulsification.

Following this, an artificial lens, or intraocular lens (IOL), is inserted through the same incision and positioned into the lens capsule of the eye. This IOL takes over the light-focusing task previously performed by the natural lens.
