Our Specialty Contact Lenses

We offer many contact lenses at Eye Sea Davis Optometry, designed for patients with unique vision needs. Contact lenses used to be too difficult for many patients to wear, but today’s technology lets almost anyone enjoy glasses-free vision.

Some specialty contact lenses include multifocal, rigid gas permeable, daily disposable, and orthokeratology lenses.

Toric contact lenses provide clear vision for patients with astigmatism. These lenses have different prescriptions in different portions of the lens, designed to help someone with an irregular cornea see clearly. These lenses feature a weighted bottom to prevent shifting, ensuring the prescription zones remain in the correct position.

Multifocal toric lenses can help people with astigmatism and presbyopia see clearly from all distances.

Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses are durable contact lenses, making them easier to handle and maintain. They provide crisp, clear vision due to their firmer material. RGP lenses can take some time to get used to, but many patients enjoy these contacts.

Disposable contact lenses are soft lenses designed for daily replacement. You wear a fresh pair of lenses every day, avoiding the need for regular cleaning and maintenance. These lenses are comfortable and can be ideal for someone new to contact lenses.

Orthokeratology (ortho-k) contact lenses are specialty lenses designed to reshape the cornea. You remove these lenses in the morning and enjoy clear vision during the day without needing glasses. Besides correcting vision, these lenses are also a way to control myopia progression.

MiSight 1 day lenses are soft contact lenses that can help children manage myopia. While correcting nearsightedness, MiSight lenses can also slow the progression of myopia with focal zones that help correct myopia in all gaze positions.

With MiSight lenses, 2 correction zones work in conjunction with the lenses’ treatment zones to slow axial elongation.

Scleral contact lenses are larger than traditional contacts and rest on your sclera—the white part of your eyes. These lenses allow for extra space over your cornea’s surface that helps improve breathability and can create a fluid reservoir between your lens and cornea to help relieve dry eyes.

Scleral lenses can be an excellent option if traditional contact lenses aren’t compatible with your eyes due to issues like dry eye and keratoconus.

What to Expect During a Contact Lens Exam

A contact lens exam includes several steps to prioritize a comfortable fit and the right vision correction:

  • Eye health assessment: We examine your eyes for any conditions that could affect lens wear, including tear film evaluation and overall ocular health.
  • Precise measurements: Using tools like corneal topography, we measure the shape and size of your eyes to match lenses perfectly.
  • Prescription determination: Your contact lens prescription is customized to your eyes and differs from your glasses prescription.
  • Lifestyle review: We discuss your daily activities, hobbies, and previous lens experience to recommend lenses that suit your needs.

Our Approach to Contact Lenses

Finding the perfect contact lenses starts with a thorough evaluation of your eyes. We review your medical history, assess your tear film, and take precise measurements using tools such as corneal topography. This allows us to recommend lenses that are comfortable, effective, and suited to your unique eyes.

Whether you need soft contact lenses for everyday use or specialty lenses for unique prescriptions, we will work with you until you find a pair you love.

Your Contact Lens Fitting

During your fitting appointment, we test different lenses to ensure comfort and proper vision correction. You will learn:

  • How to insert and remove your lenses safely
  • How to handle lenses and follow hygiene guidelines
  • How to care for your lenses to reduce the risk of eye infections or complications

We work with you until your lenses feel comfortable and provide the best possible vision.

Proper Hygiene & Lens Care

Proper lens care is essential to avoid eye infections and maintain healthy eyes. We provide guidance on:

  • Cleaning and storing lenses
  • Following replacement schedules
  • Recognizing signs of irritation or infection

With the right care and guidance, contact lenses can be a safe and convenient solution for clear vision.
